Terms of Service
Last updated: April 30, 2026
These are interim terms. Tableread is in alpha. This page is a plain-language summary of the agreement you accept by using the service today. A full, lawyer-reviewed agreement will replace it before public launch. By using the platform, you accept these interim terms.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to register, and at least 18 to use paid features (subscriptions, marketplace, identity verification). You must register manually — automated, scripted, or bulk account creation is prohibited.
Your account
You are responsible for your account and the activity that occurs on it. Don't share credentials. Use a real email you can access — we send security notifications and password resets there.
Profiles are public by default. Don't put sensitive personal information in profile fields. Private data (legal name, address, payment details) is held by Stripe, not Tableread.
Acceptable use
Don't do these things on Tableread:
- Harass, threaten, or doxx other members
- Post content that infringes copyright, trademarks, or other rights
- Post sexually explicit content, or any content that is illegal under U.S. federal law
- Spam, scrape, or run automated tools against the platform
- Attempt to bypass tier gates, paywalls, or security controls
- Create fake accounts, sock puppets, or vote-manipulation rings
- Misrepresent yourself as another person or as Tableread staff
We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We'll usually warn first; severe or repeat violations skip the warning.
Your content
You own what you post. By posting, you grant Tableread a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it on the platform — including in feeds, search, and recommendations — for as long as your account is active. Deleting your content or account revokes this license going forward.
You're responsible for what you post. If you don't have the rights to share something, don't share it.
Subscriptions
Paid subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period. You can cancel any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and you keep access until then. Refunds are handled case-by-case via contact.
Marketplace
When live, the Marketplace lets creators sell digital goods, services, and custom work to other members. For digital goods (downloadable files, license keys, content access), Tableread handles delivery automatically once payment clears. For services and custom work, the creator is responsible for delivering what was promised. Stripe processes the payment and handles payouts via Stripe Connect; Tableread takes a platform fee (currently 10%). Refund and dispute requests go through Stripe's built-in dispute process and our internal review.
Termination
You can delete your account any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms or for legal reasons. We'll tell you why when we can.
No warranties
Tableread is in alpha. The service is provided as-is. We try hard, but we don't guarantee uptime, accuracy of catalog data (game/film metadata pulled from third parties), or that any feature will continue to exist in its current form. Use at your own discretion.
Liability limit
To the extent allowed by law, Tableread's total liability to you for anything related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months (or $100 if you haven't paid us anything). We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
Copyright complaints (DMCA)
If you believe content on Tableread infringes your copyright, send a takedown notice to legal@tableread.com. Your notice must include the elements required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3): identification of the copyrighted work, identification of the infringing material and where it's located on Tableread, your contact information, a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you're authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder, and your physical or electronic signature.
We will remove the material in a timely manner, notify the user who posted it, and terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. Counter-notices may be submitted to the same address with the elements required by § 512(g).
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tableread, its officers, employees, and contractors from any claim, demand, loss, or damage (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these terms.
Force majeure
Tableread is not responsible for failures or delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control — including outages of upstream service providers (Supabase, Stripe, Mux, Vercel, Cloudflare, Resend), natural disasters, network failures, government actions, or labor disputes.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
No waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these terms doesn't waive our right to enforce it later.
Entire agreement
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Tableread, and replace any prior agreement on the same subject.
Electronic communications
By using Tableread, you consent to receive communications from us electronically (email, in-app messages). Notices we provide electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Disputes go to the state and federal courts located in Suffolk County, Massachusetts.
Changes
When these terms change meaningfully, we'll update the date above and notify active users by email. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
